On January 7, 2025, the College of Integrated Science and Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, organized the project “Enhancing Secondary and Vocational Students’ Potential through STEAM: Shaping the Future of Young Innovators (CISAT STEAM Awards by RMUTL)” at the College of Integrated Science and Technology. The event was honored by Mr. Kongkrapan Welusaroj, the Chiang Mai Provincial Education Officer, who presided over the opening ceremony, along with university executives, faculty members, students, and over 500 participants from schools and educational institutions in Chiang Mai and nearby areas.
The project aimed to promote learning and develop students' potential through the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), which serves as a crucial foundation for developing 21st-century skills. The activities were designed to foster creativity and problem-solving through various events, including:
- Water Rocket Competition
- Sci-Show Competition
- STEAM-Based Invention Competition
- Critical Thinking & Debate Competition
- Mathematics Quiz Competition
- Photo Contest: "Reimagining Nature: New Perspectives on Nature"
- CISAT Music Awards: Band Competition
In his opening remarks, Mr. Kongkrapan Welusaroj, the Chiang Mai Provincial Education Officer, stated, “This is an excellent opportunity for students in this region to participate in activities emphasizing integrated STEAM learning, which is a vital foundation for skill development in the digital age. I commend the College of Integrated Science and Technology for initiating such a valuable project, and I hope these activities will foster sustainable collaboration and learning networks among educational institutions.”
Dr. Noppadon Maneetien, Director of the College of Integrated Science and Technology, remarked, “This project builds on the STEAM concept to truly benefit learners in both education and 21st-century skill development. I would like to thank all supporting organizations, as well as the teachers and students who participated in this competition. I hope this project will inspire and prepare students to become creators of the future.”
The project was supported by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education, university administrators, and partners from both public and private sectors, who played a significant role in ensuring the project’s success in achieving its objectives.
